When You Can’t Get Away, Come Inward - The 4 hr Immersive Bodywork Retreat

You know the feeling. Your calendar is full and your mind is fuller. Somewhere in the middle of all the doing, you’ve lost touch with yourself. You’ve heard that a weekend retreat would help, but you can’t spare a weekend. Between work, family and everything else, even thinking about it feels like one more thing on the list.
That’s why I created the Immersive Bodywork Retreat at Kahe Hands in Centurion. It’s four uninterrupted hours, with no travel and no packing. You step out of a full week, and you step back in feeling like yourself again.
Why four hours?
Most of us never get a block of time this long that belongs only to us. A short treatment can relax you, but an hour is often just enough to begin to settle before the clock says it’s over. Four hours allows something deeper. Your body has time to let go, your mind slows down, and the quiet you’ve been craving has room to arrive.
This retreat is designed for people who already have a contemplative practice, whether that’s meditation, prayer or regular quiet reflection. If that’s you, you’ll know how hard it is to protect that practice when life gets loud. This is time carved out for it, with your body fully supported.
Hour one: opening the body (Thai-style assisted movement)

We begin with an hour of Thai-style bodywork. Rather than lying passively, you’re gently guided through stretches and rhythmic pressure that open the body and release the tension stress likes to hide in, especially around the shoulders, hips and back. So arrive in your gymn clothes.
Research on Thai massage is still modest, but it’s encouraging. Small studies suggest it may ease muscle pain and tension, and early trials point to possible benefits for mood and quality of life. Many people also simply report feeling lighter, more mobile and more energised. It’s a gentle way to arrive in your body after a week of living mostly in your head.
Hour two: grounding and stillness (reflexology)

Next comes an hour of reflexology, focused pressure work on the feet. It’s quiet, steady and deeply calming. Its job in this retreat is to ground you, so that the thoughts that have been racing begin to settle.
Studies of reflexology have repeatedly linked it to lower anxiety, reduced perceived pain and greater relaxation, and some researchers think it may work by calming the nervous system. The evidence is still being refined, and I won’t overpromise. But many clients find this hour is where they finally feel their shoulders drop and their breathing deepen.
Hours three and four: flowing, quiet, present (Lomi-inspired bodywork)

The final two hours are the heart of the retreat. Here the bodywork becomes long, flowing and continuous, inspired by the Hawaiian tradition of lomilomi. I want to be clear that this is Lomi-inspired work. It is not traditional Hawaiian lomilomi, which is a lineage-based cultural and spiritual practice with its own protocols and teachers. What I offer draws on its spirit of unhurried, rhythmic, nurturing touch but I pray to Jesus Christ for your healing, peace and harmony.
This is where the work reaches beyond the physical. Supported by breath, silence, meditation and personal prayer, you’re invited to simply be. There’s no agenda and nothing to achieve. The slow, rhythmic movement supports deep relaxation. Meditation has been shown to produce reductions in stress, anxiety and low mood. Together, they create conditions that are hard to find anywhere else in a busy life.
Many people describe this stretch of the retreat as the moment they feel reconnected, to their body, their breath and a sense of presence they thought they’d lost.
Is this for you?
This retreat may be right for you if:
