Lomi Lomi Massage.
The art of flowing touch
A journey of long, rhythmic, oil-based strokes that ease muscle tension and restore a deep sense of calm — the perfect introduction to this gentle Hawaiian healing tradition.
Most massage works progressively from one area of the body to another. The back is worked, then the legs, then the shoulders, with a noticeable beginning and end to each area.
Lomi Lomi feels different.
Long, continuous and rhythmic strokes travel across larger areas of the body, creating a massage that feels connected rather than repeatedly stopping and starting. Generous massage oil, broad contact and techniques that can work both over and beneath the body allow the therapist to maintain this distinctive flow.
At Kahe Hands, our 90-minute Lomi Lomi Massage is the introduction to this traditional flowing style of bodywork.
-
90 min Lomi Lomi Massage — R990
-
Best suited to clients who want to experience the flowing, rhythmic and deeply relaxing nature of Lomi Lomi.
-
Long connected strokes, generous oil and broad contact distinguish it from more conventional sectional massage.
-
Ninety minutes provides enough time for the massage to develop gradually without rushing the flow.
-
Pressure, pace and positioning are adapted to your body and preferences.
-
Because Lomi Lomi requires greater access to the body, clients wear a suitable string bikini or can purchase a Kahe Hands Maskini — Massage Bikini — for R150.
-
Clients wanting to progress beyond receiving Lomi Lomi into actively integrating established breathwork, movement, meditation and deeper self-reflection can explore our Immersive Experiences.
What Makes Lomi Lomi Feel So Different?
The difference becomes apparent quite quickly.
Instead of concentrating on one small area for an extended period before moving to the next, Lomi Lomi uses long, sweeping movements and broad contact to connect different regions of the body within the same sequence.
Hands and forearms may be used to create continuous strokes, with the therapist moving around the massage table rather than working predominantly from one fixed position. A stroke may connect the shoulder and back, continue through the hip or leg and become part of another movement rather than coming to an obvious stop.
The result is less sectional and more immersive.
Continuity is central to the experience.
Why 90 Minutes?
Lomi Lomi benefits from time.
Trying to compress a flowing full-body massage into a short appointment works against the quality that makes the style distinctive in the first place.
Ninety minutes gives you time to settle and gives your therapist time to establish rhythm. Areas can be revisited naturally, pressure can change progressively and the massage can move around the body without constantly being dictated by the clock.
For someone experiencing Lomi Lomi for the first time, 90 minutes is an excellent introduction to the modality itself.
You do not need previous experience with meditation, breathwork or movement.
You simply receive the massage.
What Should You Expect?
Expect a different experience from a conventional full-body massage.
Lomi Lomi uses generous massage oil, broad skin contact, long flowing strokes and considerable continuity. The therapist may work with both hands and forearms and, where appropriate, use techniques that work beneath the body to create pressure and movement from a different direction.
Lomi Lomi can incorporate lighter flowing work as well as firmer pressure. The objective is not to make every stroke gentle or every stroke deep. Pressure and pace are continuously adapted while preserving the rhythm and connected character of the massage.
Because the therapist is not repeatedly stopping, covering, uncovering and treating isolated areas, many clients gradually stop following exactly where the massage is going next.
That is part of the experience.
What Do I Wear for Lomi Lomi?
This is important to understand before you reserve your session.
The flowing nature of Lomi Lomi requires greater freedom of movement and access to the body than a conventional massage. Generous massage oil is used, and some techniques involve the therapist working beneath and around the body. Conventional underwear, shorts or substantial clothing can interrupt those movements.
At the same time, your safety, dignity and sense of security are our highest priority.
For this reason, clients receiving Lomi Lomi wear a suitable string bikini, providing essential coverage while allowing the therapist to perform the flowing and under-body techniques characteristic of the massage.
You are welcome to bring your own.
Alternatively, you can purchase a Kahe Hands Maskini — Massage Bikini — for R150.
The Kahe Hands Maskini — R150
The Maskini is designed specifically for massage rather than swimming.
It provides minimal but clearly defined coverage, allows the therapist the access needed to maintain Lomi Lomi's long flowing movements and avoids covering your normal underwear in massage oil.
It also removes uncertainty about what to wear: bring a suitable string bikini or use a Maskini designed for the experience.
Professional boundaries remain unchanged regardless of what you wear. Intimate areas are never part of the massage, and professional conduct is maintained throughout your session.
If at any point you want additional coverage, a different position or an adjustment to the massage, tell your therapist. Your comfort and sense of security always take priority over preserving a particular technique.
Why All the Contact?
The amount of contact is one of the characteristics that makes Lomi Lomi feel different.
A conventional massage may repeatedly break contact as the therapist changes areas, adjusts draping or moves around the table. Lomi Lomi deliberately reduces many of those interruptions.
The generous use of oil helps the therapist maintain long movements across the body, while broad hand and forearm contact creates the characteristic rhythm of the massage.
For many clients, this continuity makes it easier to stop anticipating the next technique and simply experience the massage.
If you enjoy flowing bodywork and substantial physical contact, that can be deeply relaxing.
If you prefer more conventional draping, less skin contact or clearly separated work on individual body areas, Fusion or Relaxation Massage may suit you better.
Knowing that before you book is important. Lomi Lomi should be chosen because this distinctive style of massage appeals to you.
How Can Lomi Lomi Help?
One of its greatest strengths is the experience it creates.
Rather than repeatedly concentrating your attention on individual painful muscles, Lomi Lomi can provide an extended period of rhythmic, connected bodywork and deep relaxation.
Massage research more broadly supports benefits for relaxation, stress-related outcomes and a range of musculoskeletal pain presentations. Lomi Lomi itself has a considerably smaller specific research base, so we do not need to manufacture physiological explanations for why the experience is valuable.
Its value is also experiential.
For someone whose working life involves constant decisions, interruptions, screens, conversations and responsibility, there can be considerable value in spending 90 minutes not having to direct what happens next.
You arrive.
We establish your needs and boundaries.
Then you receive the massage.
Lomi Lomi or Fusion Massage?
The difference is primarily about what you want from the appointment.
Choose Lomi Lomi when you want the massage experience itself: long flowing strokes, rhythm, extensive contact and a connected full-body treatment.
Choose Fusion Massage when a particular physical problem is driving the appointment. A painful shoulder, restricted hip, sports recovery, persistent muscular tension or several specific problem areas may benefit from the greater freedom Fusion gives us to combine Deep Tissue, Sports Massage, myofascial techniques, heat, cupping, movement and other approaches.
Both are personalised, but their starting points are different:
Fusion begins with what needs attention. Lomi Lomi begins with flow.
When You Want to Take Lomi Lomi Further
For many clients, the 90-minute Lomi Lomi Massage is the destination. They want an exceptional flowing massage without needing to actively participate in meditation, breathwork or movement.
Other clients develop those skills separately and eventually want to explore what happens when they deliberately bring them into longer Lomi-inspired bodywork.
That is where our Immersive Experiences begin.
120 min Immersive Lomi Lomi Massage
This is the progression for clients who are already comfortable using breath and intentional movement during bodywork and want to participate more actively in the experience.
Lomi-inspired flowing massage remains central, but breath, movement, intention and periods of stillness can now become part of how you engage with the session.
This is more than simply adding another 30 minutes to the 90-minute massage.

180 min Somatic Bodywork & Guided Meditation
This experience goes considerably further.
It is intended for clients who have already developed familiarity with guided meditation, breathwork and intentional self-reflection, and who are comfortable using those skills to engage with difficult emotions or past experiences within their own reflective process.
The experience begins with intention-setting, breathwork and guided meditation before progressing into approximately two hours of deeply personalised flowing bodywork. The meditation and breath awareness established at the beginning can continue through the massage.
The practitioner provides the environment and guidance; the client's reflection and processing remain their own.
This is not simply a longer Lomi Lomi Massage.
It is a different level of participation.

Which Experience Is Right for Me?
Choose 90 min Lomi Lomi Massage if you want to experience Lomi Lomi itself. You want flowing, rhythmic, oil-based full-body massage and would prefer simply to receive the bodywork.

There is no requirement to progress from one to another.
For many people, 90 minutes of excellent Lomi Lomi is exactly what they came for.
